A Word About the Podcast Feed and iTunes

by neurome on July 22, 2009

I’m not sure how this happened, but somehow I have two podcast feeds that show up in the iTunes Music Store. It’s probably because I had to switch Wordpress podcasting plugins (from Podpress to Powerpress) a while back and restart the whole podcasting thing all over again. Plus, I don’t really know how the hell feeds work, so that also might have something to do with it.

Anyway, from what I can tell, the iTunes feed that is here updates a whole lot faster than the one that is here. This is very odd, since the slower-reacting feed is the one entered as my actual feed address under the plugin settings. But I may end up having to do away with one of the two feeds in iTunes, so I figure I might as well keep the one that’s performing better. (Smart, huh? I went to Film School.) For those of you who use iTunes and might for some reason have the slower feed, please take this opportunity to update to the faster feed, with the knowledge that you might very well have to change again sometime soon. This is due to the limited knowledge of the proprietor of the website in question. That proprietor is me.

(If any of you out there know a lot about podcasts, iTunes, the Powerpress plugin or any combination of these, please feel free to suggest ideas about what might be going on and/or how I might be able to make this all less confusing for myself and for others.)

Thank you,
Jerome
